York University

"At York, we have a compelling vision: To produce graduates who apply their blue-chip credentials in ways never before imagined, and who achieve groundbreaking success."
Lorna R. Marsden, PhD
President and Vice-Chancellor

With an international reputation for innovative research and award-winning teaching, York University is one of Canada's truly remarkable success stories in higher education. Founded in 1959, York attracts top students from more than 100 countries who choose to study in one of 100+ bachelor's or 35+ master's and doctoral programs. Students find their own unique paths to success and flourish in their university experience.

York has nurtured two very different campus environments, enabling students to find the best place for their interests. Both campuses are located in Toronto, Canada's largest city featuring an internationally renowned cosmopolitan center. From theatre, art galleries, and museums to restaurants and major league sports, Toronto has all the elements of a great city.

In Toronto's north end, York's Keele campus boasts all the amenities and facilities of a modern university environment. It is home to nine academic faculties, extensive athletic facilities, undergraduate and graduate residences, a student centre, a shopping mall, and much more. The mid-town Glendon campus has an international flair with its smaller liberal arts community for students wishing to study a diverse range of liberal arts programs in English or French. Come, explore the city, and discover York's campuses!

Setting international standards, the academic experience at York is unparalleled with top-ranked programs. York's professors are dedicated to teaching and research, expanding the horizons of a classroom experience and redefining the possibilities for academic research. York's many program options include business, computer science/information technology, design, education, engineering, environmental studies, fine arts, health studies, criminology, humanities, human resources management, kinesiology and health sciences, law, social sciences, pure and applied science, and social work. Within these areas are many interdisciplinary programs such as Latin American and Caribbean studies, communication studies, and international studies. This is just a sample of the programs; visit the admissions Web site, www.yorku.ca/admissions, for a full listing.

Highly selective in admissions, York is seeking strong academic applicants. Minimum admission requirements for undergraduate study include successful completion of an academic secondary school program. For those studying in a US curriculum, SAT or ACT scores are also required. For more specific requirements or application procedures, please visit www.yorku.ca/admissions. The same site will also provide fee and scholarship details. Tuition is very affordable. For example, five full courses for a year of study in a Bachelor of Arts degree will cost $11,881 Canadian (approximately $8,486 US). Students will be considered for entrance scholarships based on evidence of strong academic success. Typically, consideration occurs automatically at the time of admission.

The university experience is a chance of a lifetime. Providing the tools and the opportunities, York promises a community of top academic scholars. It is an exciting place for students to achieve success, to redefine the possible, and to determine their own path.
