Available to high school seniors who intend to major in the fields of business, communications, economics, engineering, international relations, and journalism. Applicants must have been born in Cuba or are a direct descendant of those who left Cuba, be in the top ten percent of their high school class, and maintain a 3.5 GPA. Scholarship amount is negotiable and is renewable for four years. Financial need is considered, along with academic success, and ACT/SAT scores. Essays and proof of Cuban descent is required. HCF awards scholarships to talented Hispanic students who wish to pursue a bachelor's degree in business or a business related major. Students must also be a U.S. citizen of Hispanic background, reside in the 50 states or Puerto Rico, plan to enroll as a full-time undergraduate student, and must be applying to/enrolled in a college or university within the United States. Must also have a GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale. Application materials will be available on the Web site in December 2002. Applications are due in April.

Procter and Gamble Oral Care and the H.D.A. Foundation award numerous scholarships in amounts of $1,000 and $500. Applicants who are accepted into an accredited dental, dental hygiene, dental assisting, or dental technician program are judged on scholastic achievement, community service, leadership, and commitment to improving health in the Hispanic community. Write to HDA to request an application. Applications are due June 30.

The H.I.S. Scholars include three awards: the HCF Scholarship, which ranges from $500-$5,000, depending on need and academic achievement; training through monthly coaching, service, and mentorship; and a paid internship at Sprint. Upon successful completion of the internship, the winner will be invited to return every summer. Applicants must be U.S. citizens of Hispanic/Latino heritage; enrolled as a full-time undergraduate student with a GPA of 3.0 or higher; be available to complete two consecutive summer internships before graduation; and be majoring in accounting, economics, finance, computer science, MIS, or electrical engineering. HDI is offering scholarships from $500-$5,000 for Hispanic students or students of Hispanic descent with U.S. citizenship or residency, who have evidence of extracurricular activities in fashion through an internship or work training program, and have a 3.0 or better grade point average. Students must be enrolled in accredited fashion design schools or other accredited institutions for a degree or certified program in fashion design, fashion merchandising, illustration, jewelry design, interior design, apparel manufacturing/management, marketing management, merchandising communications, theater costume design, or special events/fashion show production. Seeking to increase the number of minorities in advertising, marketing, and public relations, the Lagrant Foundation annually provides ten scholarships each worth $5,000. Applicant must be a U.S. citizen and must be African American, Asian, Pacific American, Hispanic, or Native American. Applicant must be a high school senior planning on attending a four year accredited institution, plan to carry a total of 12 units or more per quarter/semester, and have a minimum of 2.5 GPA. If chosen, the applicant must attend the Lagrant Foundation's career development workshop and the awards reception to receive the scholarship. The applicant must also make a one-year commitment to maintain contact with TLF to receive professional guidance. Application rules and information are available on the Web site. Applicant must sign, date, and return the application by the last Friday in March, no later than 6:00 p.m. Application cannot be postmarked on this date.

Under this program, local LULAC councils, along with local and national businesses, award scholarships to students in their communities, and these funds are matched nationally by sponsoring corporations. Applicants must contact their local LULAC chapter for an application. Award amounts vary between $250-$5,000. All applicants must be a resident of the United States, must be enrolled/intend to enroll in an accredited academic institution for the fall semester, and must not be related to a scholarship committee member, a council president, or an individual contributor to the local funds of the council. A list of participating chapters and information about the scholarship is available on the Web site. Applications are due to the applicant's local council by March 31.

NMJGSA offers grant and financial aid packages each year, ranging from one-time, $1,000 grants to four-year grants of up to $6,000 annually. Recipients are awarded based on academic achievement, entrance exam score, financial need, references, community service, and golfing ability. Applicants must be high school seniors registered in the NMJGSA database. Applicants can register in the database on the Web site. Applications are available on the Web site beginning in January. Applications are due no later than April 15.
