St. Bonaventure University Announces New Fitness Center

The Good Journey at St. Bonaventure University is getting better!

The first renderings of the university's new Sandra A. & William L. Richter Center have been released.

The Richter Center, which is scheduled to open in the fall of 2004, will provide St. Bonaventure students with a state-of-the-art recreation and fitness center.

This spring, the university will break ground and begin construction. Located near the center of campus, with convenient access from all university residence halls, the Richter Center will house:

  • 3 basketball courts
  • a jogging-walking track
  • 2 racquetball/squash courts
  • a multi-purpose aerobics room
  • a weight room
  • a cardio area
  • locker rooms
  • equipment check-out
  • a juice bar
  • and a climbing wall

The new Richter Center, located east of the Reilly Center approximately on the site of the present outdoor tennis courts, will be will be 45,000 sq. ft. in size, open 24 hours a day, and will contain a large central atrium and two floors.

It will provide our campus with a dynamic new structure for our students at the heart of our campus.

St. Bonaventure University is located in the southwest corner of New York State, 60 miles south of Buffalo. The campus is residential, with more than 75 percent of undergraduates living in the university's four residence halls and six on-campus apartment/townhouse residences.
