“Die-hards don't know the meaning of wait and see.”

The thing that impressed national sportswriter Joe Lunardi when he visited campus this month is the same thing that led me to become a St. Bonaventure student.

It’s the spirit of the place.

You see, St. Bonaventure doesn’t just appeal to your mind; you’d expect that from any solid four-year school that you are applying to. Bona’s (as we affectionately call our school) appeals to your mind and your heart.

This is not a “wait and see” kind of place. It is a university that reaches out to you, believes in you and will exceed your expectations of what the perfect college should be. There is no better, more positive campus environment than the one we have here at Bona’s.

The school that I call home isn’t just a place where I’m getting a great education. Right from the beginning, Bona’s has challenged me academically, but also shaped me as a person. I’m learning as much about myself, like my values, my interests and what I want in life, as I am about literature, science, technology, ethics and society.

St. Bonaventure is the nation’s leading Franciscan university. They call your college experience here the Good Journey, and that is exactly what it has been for me. It’s not just that we have successful alumni (including five Pulitzer Prize winners, college presidents, bankers, teachers and medical researchers) and it’s more than the fact that our 500-acre campus in Western New York is known as one of the nation’s most beautiful.

It’s our attitude, and you can hear it in our chant, “Let’s Go Bona’s!”

If you’re not one to “wait and see,” and you want to learn more about St. Bonaventure University right away, send me an e-mail at goodjourney@sbu.edu and type “Let’s Go Bona’s” in the subject line. I’ll make sure you get something in the mail that demonstrates what I have been talking about.

Bona’s may be the place that will satisfy you—academically, socially, and spiritually—and become your college. Both U.S. News and World Report and the John Templeton Foundation have consistently recognized us for our exceptional value and for the values we instill in our students. Ours is a liberal arts education in the 750-year-old Franciscan tradition of learning, with individual attention from professors, a beautiful residential setting, and a friendly, close-knit atmosphere.

Thanks for your interest in St. Bonaventure. I wish you every success as you journey with us.

Let’s go, Bona’s!
