The New York City Academic Internship program is an exciting opportunity for undergraduate students to experience the best of New York City. Our program blends part-time internships, undergraduate courses, and cultural events into a dynamic package that helps you prepare for your career while expanding your personal horizons.

Our academic curriculum consists of three undergraduate courses that involve extensive out-of-class activity. The three core courses are: International Business, New York City History and Culture, and Modern Business Practices—an internship seminar that focuses on career planning and development. In addition, you will participate in numerous cultural activities that will familiarize you to the riches of New York City—including Broadway Theater, major league sporting events, Off-Broadway theater, and neighborhood tours. These three classes are equal to nine academic credits.

The NYC Internship Program will help match you with a position in a company that matches your interests and skills in the New York metropolitan area. We pursue quality internship opportunities that include meaningful work with industry professionals in support, team, and project capacities. Although we cannot guarantee internships in a particular organization, we have worked with large and small corporations from Fortune 100 companies to non-profit organizations. The internship seminar Modern Business Practices helps you maximize the benefits of your internship and develop professional experience and contacts. Internships are offered in a business or organization in areas such as finance, business, non-profit, trade, publishing, communications/media, and the arts. The NYC Internship Program is designed to broaden your worldviews while providing valuable credentials and experience.

This program appeals to serious students looking for an exceptional academic experience. The minimum GPA for consideration is 2.5 on a four-point scale. Applicants may be of any major. We look for students who excel in academic study, are driven to excellence, are eager for professional experience, and are interested in global issues as they occur in a world-class city. Students interested in participating should fill out a program application complete with the requested supporting documents. Late applications may be accepted at the discretion of the program manager; however, early applicants are more likely to receive their first-choice internship preference.

Financial aid may be available from your college or university to help cover our program costs. We encourage you to speak with your financial aid representative about how you can participate as a visiting student and qualify for financial aid.
